Climate change, GHG, air pollution, global warming… we’ve been hearing about these crises for decades. In our current society, humor seems to be the least painful approach at discussing these long standing issues. A talk show host opened with this line recently: I hope you’re not powered by fossil fuels, because you’ve been running through my mind all day… and the audience ate it up! Maybe that’ll put it in some people’s minds that it is crucial for us to start caring about our planet a little more. As an HVAC contractor, we are here to hopefully share a little knowledge that can help you make changes in the right direction.
According to a study by the U.S Energy Information Administration that was conducted in 2011, almost 90% of American homes use air conditioners and in California alone, space heating is one of the largest air pollutants. One solution to this problem is home electrification. In the wonderful world of HVAC, we look to heat pump technology.
Heat pumps use a refrigerant to move heat from one place to another. They have a higher efficiency, are more consistent and are multifunctional as a heat pump can replace both your heating and air conditioning units.
In a recent effort to reduce GHG, California recently launched a $120million initiative called TECH Clean California. The initiative was designed to distribute at least 40% of program benefits to Californians from low-income and disadvantaged communities. The program offers rebates from $1,000.00-$3,000.00 for single-family and multi-family households. TOTAL 1 AC & HEATING is a participating contractor with TECH Clean. Give us a call to set up a free estimate to see if a heat pump is right for your household so you can help reduce our carbon footprint. Just hurry, this program won’t be around for long!
